RealMe Replatforming Phase 2

Background

We are making customer experience improvements to RealMe, including introducing a single dashboard for user accounts, and migrating the platform to the cloud.

In April 2021, we successfully migrated the RealMe login and assertion service to the Microsoft Azure cloud-based platform. We are now moving the remaining RealMe services to that same platform.

RealMe ITE will be unavailable for all integrated services whilst we deploy changes to that environment. During this time ITE will not be available for testing. Once ITE is available again, integrated services can perform testing in the updated environment for up to 5 weeks if they wish.

The existing two services used by RealMe - the NZ Post Address Verification Service and the DIA Identity Verification Service - will remain unchanged.

Production Deployment – the deployment date for the change to production is yet to be confirmed but is targeted for June/July 2022. Whilst the production deployment is expected to require an outage for a number of hours, we will be working to plan this for a time that will cause the least amount of disruption. The date and expected duration of the outage will be advised in May.

Update 14 April 2022

ITE RealMe® Consent & Verified Account migration to the cloud

We are pleased to advise that the deployment of consent and verified account changes to the RealMe ITE (Integration Test Environment) is now complete.

The environment is now available for integrated services testing.

You can choose to perform regression testing against the new release for the next 5 weeks should you wish.

The list of agency test verified accounts to be used going forward can be found on the developers’ website here.

There are several known defects that the project team are working to resolve.  A list of these can be found further down this page.

As advised earlier, we will be in touch again in May to confirm the date and expected duration for the production deployment/outage.

Update 10 June 2022

Background

DIA testing for the planned consent and verified account migration to the cloud is nearing completion and scheduled to complete by 17 June.

Preparation and planning activities for the production deployment have commenced and we can confirm that the deployment to Production is planned for Saturday 2 July

What is happening?

Work will start at 10pm on Saturday 2 July and is planned to finish by 3.30am on Sunday 3 July.

During this time, the following service outages are expected:

  • Login and Helpdesk services – Saturday 2 July 10pm – 12pm
  • Assertion service – Saturday 2 July 10pm - Sunday 3 July 3am
  • Account/self service function (via www.realme.govt.nz(external link)) – Saturday 2 July 10pm – Sunday 3 July 3.30am

In the unlikely event that an unexpected issue is encountered which requires troubleshooting or a rollback then the outage windows may be extended.  We will provide an update via this channel if an extension is required.

In preparation for the Production go live, we will be commencing a migration of RealMe verified account audit data from 1 January 2018 to the production audit database on Wednesday 15 June.  This migration will not have a production outage. From this date, the historical-account-related audit events will begin to become visible to users and Helpdesk operators.
